My son, his wife and my wife landed 5 Black Drum on our first day of fishing.  My wife and I fished the second day and my wife landed a nice redfish and we caught some small fish too.  Always fun to be on the water and great to spend time with loved ones.

My daughter, an awesome fisher girl, landed 16 Black Drum in two days of fishing with 11 on the first day and 5 the next day.  The Drum ranged from about 20 to 50 pounds and we estimate she landed about 480 pounds of fish over the two days.  We went out early on the third day, but were forced off the water when the winds picked up to 25+ mph.  It was a fun trip with lots of great memories.  I am a lucky dad to have a daughter that enjoys fishing as much as she does.

It was also great to meet my son and his wife at Gus' in Texas City for a seafood dinner.  Great company and really good food.

Fun summer day on the water and even got to see the Carnival ship coming back into port with my son and daughter-in-law on board.  We caught the typical summer time fish: sand trout, croakers, catfish, sheepshead, and Spanish mackerel.  I rarely keep fish, but decided to clean the mackerel.  We had those for dinner one night at the beach house we rented.

Two fun days on the water with my long time friend, Alan.  We caught several species and 7 Redfish that ranged from 5 to 24 pounds.  No fish were harmed on the this trip, but it was tempting with Redfish going for $24 per plate at a local seafood restaurant in my home town.

It was great to get back on the water with my family.  I enjoyed spending time with my son and his wife on Saturday, and Sunday was fun with my wife and daughter.  It was also great to sit down to a nice meal at Gus' Restaurant in Texas City with the whole family on Saturday night.  Even had a chance for everyone to enjoy some Rudy's bbq on Sunday afternoon before we headed out of Houston.

We landed 4 redfish that went from about 12 to 20 pounds and 6 black drum ranging from about 6 to 50 pounds.  Also caught flounder, croaker, sand trout, hardhead catfish and two large gafftop catfish.  The fishing was good and the company on the boat was great.  Looking forward to doing it again.

October 10-11, 2015

Date:  October 10 & 11, 2015
Location:  Galveston – North Jetty
Depth:  10-30 feet
Winds:  10-15+ mph
Seas: calm to choppy
Bait:  live shrimp, dead shrimp and shad

My friend and fishing buddy, Alan, joined me for the trip.  We were hoping for some action on big redfish, but only caught three (yeah, I am spoiled) on this trip.  We tried several spots along the jetties, but just could not find a productive spot.  Based on the other boats around us, I think we were a little early for the redfish run this year.

We stayed in Texas City this trip and launched from the Dike which worked well.  The fishing was a little slow, but we still had a great time.
