Alan, Ken and Jim joined me for my first October Bull Red fishing trip to Galveston in 2006. We had two great days on the water even after having to return to the Galveston Yacht Basin the first day due to strong thunderstorms. After the storm passed, we returned to the Pelican Island Bridge for some good action. The tally for both days was 7 Bull Reds, 1 slot Redfish, 2 Black Drum and numerous sand trout, whiting, croakers and catfish.
Our second saltwater trip to Galveston was also great fun and we caught lots of whiting, catfish, small sharks and one 3 foot blacktip shark that was released without a picture (too feisty to bring in the boat).
Our first saltwater fishing trip on our boat was a success. We navigated on the ocean for the first time and even caught a bunch of whiting, catfish and one 23 pound Bull Red at the South Jetty in Galveston. Everyone had a great time and it was a good learning experience for me.
