March 18-19, 2007
Burrito, Alan and I made the spring break trip to Galveston for the Black Drum run. We caught 15 Black Drum ranging from 19 to 60 pounds, a few small sharks, a 5 lb Sheepshead and of course, catfish and whiting. All of the Black Drum were caught using cut crab near the Boat Cut at the North Jetty. It was nonstop action with several double and one triple hook-up. After heaving several of these 30+ pound fish into the boat the first day for pictures, we started releasing them in the water beside the boat the second day without pictures. I'm a fisherman - you can trust me. We caught 15 huge Black Drum. We are already looking forward to another trip in March 2008 when the Black Drum begin spawning again. 45 Pounds
